No other name is so well-known or has been so widely discussed like the name of Jesus Christ.
We believe that truly knowing who Jesus is, on a relational level, is the most important thing we could ever know.
He is the Son of God, with the Bible telling us, "the Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation." (Colossians 1:15). Belief in Jesus makes us right with God, as Romans 10:9 tells us: "If you declare with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord', and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."
FIRST STEPS OF FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST
The first step is to Accept that God is who He says He is and does what He says He does, and that our view of life is framed through the perspective of a God who loves us – so much so he took on the form of a human in the person of Jesus Christ, ultimately giving his life on our behalf.
Our next step is to Believe and put our full trust in God. Believing in God takes faith; that quality we all have of putting our trust in something we sometimes cannot understand but expecting that "something" to carry us along.
The third step is that of Confession. This not only means to declare the truth but also to agree with what has been described about us. The Bible informs us that all of us have sinned and so we literally agree with God’s evaluation of us, knowing that as we confess our sin, God will forgive our sin, setting us free to live the life we were meant to live.
The final step is to come to the place of Decision; to say yes to following Jesus Christ, yes to living a new kind of life with new priorities and possibilities and yes to allowing God to direct our lives. This means turning our back on our old life. The Bible calls this repentance, a military term to turn around and go in the opposite direction.
These four ABCD Steps will signal the start of a new journey of life.
The Bible describes this as being born again. There are many other Steps that need to be taken as we go forward, but we can now be assured that we never need to journey alone again, that God will always walk with us and that there now is a clearer purpose for our life and an assured hope of arriving there.
Why don’t you confirm these four steps by saying this short prayer as you simply talk to God:
“Thank you God for loving me and never giving up on me. Thank you Jesus for dying on the cross for me and forgiving me of all my sin. I confess that I have lived my life my way without you, but now I accept that what you did was for me and, as I make my decision to commit myself to you, I submit my life into your care and I now receive you into my life. Amen.”
